June 15 Update: We will execute another update tomorrow, Friday, June 16, at 9 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). We expect this update to take up to two hours. During this period, users will be unable to log into or use Pecan Street’s Dataport website or their Jupyter Notebooks. This update will not affect any previous work you have completed.

Please check this website to see the outage schedule for your time zone.

By Steve Mock, director of data and information services, Pecan Street Inc.

Like all of the digital tools that power our connected lives, Pecan Street’s databases require regular maintenance, updates and upgrades to provide you with quick and reliable service. Most of the time, this maintenance is invisible to users and does not impact access or performance.

But sometimes, the list of upgrades is big enough that we have to take some systems offline for brief periods.

In June 2023, Pecan Street Inc. will conduct a series of system updates to the core databases that power our Dataport data interface and other data tools. During this period, some of our services may be offline. We are conducting the maintenance in June to minimize the impact on our academic researchers and are currently solidifying the exact schedule for each upgrade.

Once completed, these upgrades will improve overall performance and security and include bug fixes, better support, new features, and better compatibility with other systems.

The one upgrade that is most likely to affect users will happen quickly and should result in very little downtime for users trying to log into Dataport. We will email all users 48 hours before this and all planned steps that may result in downtime.

If you conduct any research or analysis on our systems, your data is safe. We will not delete any user data or profiles. But during the maintenance period, users may be unable to log in to Dataport or access our data or tools.

Bookmark this blog and check back for any schedule or detail changes. We’ll notify all users when the upgrades are complete.
